If you adventure downtown, you will find the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. This train ride starts its journey at the historic Blue Ridge Depot and makes its way along the beautiful Toccoa River to its destination in McCaysville. McCaysville is an adjacent and historic small town with its own mountain charm and character.

After you are done exploring McCaysville, don’t forget to catch your ride back to downtown Blue Ridge for even more fun! Just a short drive from downtown, you will find Mercier Orchards another tourist spot you definitely don’t want to miss! Mercier Orchards is a family farm that has been around for 65 years and is the largest apple orchard in the Southeast and home of the best fried apple pies and fritters anywhere!

And did I mention, Southern Living Magazine named it their “favorite roadside apple market”, but it is so much more than that. Trust us, it’s worth the short trip! Now for some family fun, Blue Ridge has so much to offer! Whether you want to stay in and play at Cabby’s Cabin, hike to the nearby Benton MacKaye Trail, visit the Swan Drive-In theatre located in downtown for an amazing movie, the best thing is just spending time with your family and friends.

You can also take your kids on a Geocaching adventure. Just visit the Welcome Center for a copy of the Family Adventure Game and don’t forget to return back to claim a fun prize when you complete it!
